Our very own astute Executive Broker, Martin Lines is the winner of the IBANZ (Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand) industry award, Outstanding Professional Broker 2014.
On Thursday evening the Viaduct Event Centre in Auckland was packed out with some of the topmost insurers and brokers for the announcement of 2014 IBANZ award winners. The prestigious IBANZ awards recognise and celebrate excellence.
Twenty three brokers were nominated and three finalists selected for Outstanding Professional Broker. To be one of the three finalists was an achievement in itself, winning the award is outstanding. The category was judged on business relationships, quality of submissions to insurers, knowledge, professional standards, communication and contribution to the industry and Martin exceeded in every case.
There was a new nomination process for the category this year, with the winner being chosen through a survey of all insurers. IBANZ CEO Gary Young told Insurancebusinessonline.co.nz, “In the past it has been more of a self-nomination process, this does not sit well with many in the industry. It seemed appropriate that the ‘Outstanding Professional Broker’ should be chosen by insurers,” He went on to say, “By having brokers choose an insurer and insurers choose a broker we are leaving the decision to those in the best position to decide. This is far more appropriate than a simplistic voting system or using self-promotion to determine the result. Instead winners are selected on quality of performance by asking all those in the industry they deal with to rate them against key performance criteria.”
Vero’s new EGM commercial and distribution, Cris Knell who presented the award told the audience that Martin Lines won the award for his dedication to his customers, professional approach to all things insurance, calm manner, non-accusatory style and absolute integrity, which makes him a leader that people can and should emulate.
He also commented, “the insurers said his wealth of experience encompassed not only establishing a thriving client portfolio but also effectively lead coaching and mentoring his own team at Crombie Lockwood Napier with the responsibility for the management of a busy and successful branch”.
“Martin is a true advocate for his clients, going above and beyond to know his clients, providing dedicated support at all times and delivering exceptional service to meet his clients’ needs, ensuring he has sourced the best protection for them.
“He is technically strong and brings a wealth of invaluable insurance knowledge and regulatory awareness to his role.
“He is totally dedicated to ensuring there is a tripartite relationship between his clients, the insurer and himself. He recognises and advocates that insurance is based on many aspects including the value that each party can bring to the insurance contract.
“If only everyone had the virtues that Martin has the insurance industry would be a lot better off.” (www.insurancebusinessonline.co.nz, IBANZ Broker of the Year announced, 3.10.2014)
